Building Program Update

Though it may seem like the building program is a never ending process, if you drive by the church property on Haynie Lane, you will see the unbelievable progress that has been made during the last 12 weeks. Contractors are in the process of sheeting and drying in the roof this week and hope to complete the electrical, air conditioning, and fire sprinklers by next week.

With a projected moving date of December 16, 2009, contractors are actually several days ahead of schedule on the 15,000 square foot, CBS, wood truss and metal roof, worship center that will house the sanctuary and nurseries.  The permitting has already begun for building "B" which will serve as the 7,500 square foot Sunday school and administrative offices building.

When the sale of the current church property on Center Street closes next week, the funds will become available to move ahead with building "B" as soon as permitting is completed.  It is projected that building "B" will be completed within 5 months of receiving the permits.

Building "B" will be completed at a much quicker pace than the sanctuary not only because of it's smaller size but also because all the site work is being completed along with building "A." The site work includes a self contained water treatment system as well as a $100,000 sewer treatment system for the church campus. This is because to date, there is no city water or sewer available in Jupiter Farms.  Even if city water and sewer should become available in the future, having private treatment stations could be more economical in the long run.

The church site work also includes a $250,000 fire pump system which is fed by the retention pond located at the front of the property as well as $200,000 worth of site lighting. Three hundred parking spaces, a forty foot wide property barrier of trees around the property, a third turning lane, and a bridge from Haynie Lane to the church property, as well as many other site preparations brought the site prep grand total to over 1.3 million.

Many are asking what the transfer of the Center Street property to the seller, next week, as well as the eventual move to a sanctuary in Jupiter Farms with an unfinished Sunday School building means for the congregation. Beacon Baptist will remain in control of the Center Street property until November 16, 2009. After that date the property will be semi-shared. The administrative office area will be transferred to the buyer and they will also have a right to hold meetings, make improvements etc., while Beacon Baptist will still be able to maintain their same service schedule. After December 16, 2009, full control of the property will be transferred over to the Buyer. At that time Beacon Baptist is projected to be moved to the Haynie Lane property. Worst case scenario, if the sanctuary at Haynie lane is not quite completed, the seller has agreed to let Beacon Baptist meet in the Center Street property on a different schedule up until mid January, 2010.

Some changes have already been made to help Beacon Baptist adapt to only having the use of one building for several months. AWANA now meets on Wednesday nights as opposed to Monday nights as it has in the past and it has been incorporated into the Wednesday night meeting. Carelink has moved to Old Dixie Hwy in Jupiter and will continue there after the church moves to Haynie Lane. It is projected that busses will be used for the transportation of the members of the Spanish ministry and the children from the current bus route to the Haynie lane property. It is not yet known where the temporary administrative offices will be set up until building "B" is completed. One of the deacons jokingly stated that the Administrative staff will be working out of their cars for awhile.

The Lord has kept His hand on the Beacon Baptist Church building program from the beginning and He will see us through until the end. We look forward to the day when the building program is completed and Beacon Baptist can focus solely on spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ.
