Jail Ministry

Beacon Baptist Church began its jail ministry in 1994. Over the years many people have come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior through this important ministry.

Our ministry currently serves only the Martin County Jail in Stuart, Florida, but we are actively seeking to expand the ministry to the Palm Beach County Jail and the Palm Beach County Stockade. There are currently four men approved for the ministry at the Martin County Jail.

The county jail ministry is not the same as a prison ministry, which more people are familiar with. A county jail holds inmates for no more than one year and often less than one full week. The average stay for a prisoner in our jail ministry is three weeks. Therefore, the jail ministry is largely a gospel-preaching ministry. We do include teachings on other fundamental doctrines including separation, baptism, local church membership, eternal security and the like, but focus our preaching on the simple salvation message.

Results have been encouraging. We have seen over 100 professions of faith in each of the last three years. God has honored His Word and continues to save those who are the downtrodden of society. Remember, it was a thief whom Jesus saved on the cross.
